Initial Meeting

After the initial inquiry with Adoption Bridges of Kentucky, someone from the Agency will meet with the birth parent(s), take background information on both of them and will discuss:

• Adoption Law and the Legal Process

• Reasons for Placing a Child for Adoption

• Review of Personal Financial Needs and Insurance Information

• Discussion of the Court Appearance and a private attorney

• Choosing Adoptive Parents

The birth parent(s) must sign a number of authorizations, consents, and releases regarding the information provided. Some of these are used for the hospital visits, obtaining medical information, and dispensing information to the adoptive parent(s). Other paperwork is for obtaining medical care for the baby, should it be required.
